Chocolate loves cherry
I found a big box of fresh cherries on
Bondi Farmers Market. The cherries were so delicious that I wanted to do something special with them. Time for my first Australian cake! Well, at least the cherries are. The recipe is German, I found it on
chefkoch.de.
Cherries and chocolate is a delicious combination. This cake is especially easy to make. Mixing the ingredients takes me around 20-30 minutes. The hardest part if you decide to go with fresh cherries of course is the deseeding.
Besides, I'm just getting to know my Aussie oven. I can only choose between overheat and hot air. In Germany I used to bake with the combined over- and underheat. After a bit of testing I discovered it works best with the hot air for the first 30 minutes, then I cover it with aluminium foil to prevent the top of the cake from burning and switch to overheat for another 40 minutes or so. Just 5 minutes of overheat at the very end make for a lovely golden touch.
My flat all covered in this delicious aroma, I invited my neighbours over for a cup of tea and cake. With a scoop of vanilla ice cream it's the perfect dessert or sweet treat.
